What is your sense of others’ willingness to support change efforts for improvement in your organization? Why do you believe as you do? (Please include in-text citation and a reference page)
Since any organization is a dynamic entity, changes must be there from time to time. Change efforts includes reorganizing employee-responsibility structure, change in operational techniques, innovation, the introduction of new technology, alteration in communication and management, modification of leadership structure and so on. By other's willingness to support change, we mean the response of stakeholders and public to assist in the implementation of the changes and its associated reactions. My sense of other's willingness to support changes can be elucidated through the following points:
1. It is the inherent nature of humans to always resist changes. Such a tendency is irrespective of the effectiveness and viability of the change.
2. The trade unions will not digest changes much easier.
3. Of those who are willing to support, a majority of them suspects the adaptability of change.
4. Whose who are wholeheartedly willing to support such a change are risk takers and could be the potential head of the company.
Thus, as per my opinion, changes are always looked down upon by most of the people. It is because, when we take any random organisation, we may be able to analyse that changes are always followed by union strikes, employee unrests, etc. Certain changes for improvement invites more problems such as introduction of new technology, replacing labour intensive method of production with capital intensive method, change in management, policies, etc. However, certain changes invite less resistance such as decision to increase its contribution to corporate social responsibility areas, improvement of incentives, change in composition of raw materials, etc. However, the irony is that, more the changes are expected to improve the position of the business, more will be the resistance and vice-versa.
