how dose schooling and education systems contribute to opportunity and income inequality? how does this interact with neighborhood segregation?
Schooling and education systems contribute positively and provides opportunities for growth both economically and as well as increases the one's social status in the society/among one's peers and also reduces income inequality.
An educated person gets ample job opportunities to grab and be economically independent and this reduces the income inequality between poor and lower middle class, between lower middle class and middle class and between middle class and high income group since an educated person/a good number of educated person who gets benefited from schooling and education system comes out of their present economic situation after being placed in jobs/businesses as per their skills and enters the next ladder of income group, i.e. middle income group from poor and lower middle income group, high income group and this reduces the number of person in the low income category and this automatically reduces the income inequality and even the number of people who are in middle income group will shift to high income group due to their persistent efforts and the economic confidence and high risk taking capacities and some of them starts their own venture and climb the next ladder of economic growth and becomes part of high income group the so called top 1% or top 20% and this even open the door of opportunities for other people who are also eagerly looking for the opportunities and that's why they are also adjusted by the growing economy and becomes part of growth economy and contributes towards the nations economic growth which finally contributes to reduction into income inequality.
Schooling and education system and progressive one which looks for integration of the people and society always ripe its fruits in terms of opportunities and decreased income inequality for the people at large.
Education has a direct relationship with neighborhood segregation rather I should say eduction contributes to integrate the people both white and black/colored and it is due to the fact that highly educated people both white and black/colored shows less sign of segregation and are less hesitant to live in integrated/mixed neighborhood. Education does contribute positively in integration of society and integrate both while and black/clored people and this is a very good positive sign.
But above statement has some exception since highly educated white people try to live in the locality/neighborhood which matches their social status, wealth, education and this factor is the major segregation factor which segregates neighborhood of both whites and blacks, since highly educated blacks also try to live in the neighborhood which matches their social status, wealth, neighborhood and even neighborhood schools.
