Before you can begin to theoretically examine your life, a foundational understanding of the ecosystems theory must be present. Research the ecosystems theory and create an outline that details the information (how it is defined, the different subsystems it identifies, how it is used to make behavioral connections, etc.).

Brainstorm personal dimensions of each subsystem according to the theory and include these details in your outline to help you as you self-analyze your own behavior.

As we know ecosystems theory as given by Urie Bronfneberner ..It is also known as human ecology theory. The theory helps us to develop understanding of individuals characteristics and behaviour in context of the environment and society . This theory helps us to understand the different perspectives which influence the personality and development of the individual. The theory says the individual is in contact with five systems and interacts with the system which influences the development process .

Five environmental systems under this theory are

1. Micro - These are the institutions which have a direct impact on the development of a child's behaviour or personality . The individual is in direct contact with these systems . For example in case of s school going child school ,family, peers , friends etc are the MIcro level systems . They can be used to asses the behavior as in what peer group child belongs , how is the situation in the family at home , what kind of treatment child gets from the teachers .
2. Meso- This can be defined as the bridge between the different systems or we can say the linkages . For example in case of the child the link or we can say the relationship between the school teacher and the family .
3. Macro - It is a larger system which affects the child . IT is the culture which evolves from time to time . It involves cultural beliefs which can be different for different geographical locations , religious beliefs, attitudes which also influence the child's development and behavior . Micro and meso systems comes under the umbrella of Macro system
4. Exosystems - These are systems which influence the child in indirect way . The child is not in direct contact with the ecosystem structure . For example Parents who are working and the conditions for their work are not conducive . When the parents come home they behave in a hostile way . This is the result of poor working condition of parents which are indirectly affecting child's behaviour and development .It contains local political beliefs , media, neighbours etc
5. Chronosystem -It is the system made of different life events and patterns which happen to the individual through his or her lifetime period . These are the transitions which takes place .For example Divorce in the family affects the child . The affect is more in the initial years but then it fades away slowly with time .
