What is the long term effect of less personal interaction caused by the increased use of social media?

Solutions

Expert Solution

The increased use of social media will lead to long term effects on personal interactions.

  • The increased use of social media has been flourishing. Now the communication methods have been changing. People are more relying on exchanging messages, emails, video calls, etc through various means of social media platforms. This is making people dependent on this platform and it is becoming conditioned to their behavior.
  • The long term and repetitive use of social media will lead to making this a new normal. People find it convenient to engage in social media as it does not require much effort. Personal interaction will be done on less basis as it requires a lot of effort such as moving out of the house.
  • Less personal interaction will lead to not sharing personal physical comfort. Research states that physical proximity keeps the various relationships intact and emotional bond increases. Social media cannot fulfill the emotional and affection needs.
  • The dynamics of relationships will changes. This can also lead to the development of a lot of stress from social media influences and major mental health issues. Personal physical assurance and interaction helps in making people sane and away from various negative thoughts. General advice, counselling and guidance cannot be given on social media interactions.
