What parts of culture do you think a conflict theorist would focus on in explaining the impact of culture on people in society?
answer:
The Conflict theory states that tensions and conflicts over uneven distribution of resources, status, and power between groups in society, are the primary cause for social change. While initially the conflict theory described class conflicts in terms of the Marxist principle of dialectical materilaism, over the years it has focused on other kinds of as conflicts, like those premised on race, gender, sexuality, religion, cultural productions such as hegemony in art, music, etc.
Thus, later conflict theorists likely Max Horkheimer and Theodor Adorno and others of the Frankfurt School, focused their work on the evolution of a dominant ideology of the ruling groups such a small majority White males, which begins to control the resources of cultural productions giving rise to cultural hegemony such as through elitism in Western classical music over low brow HipHop music of racial minorities, gretaer representation of famous Male artists than female artists, intellectuals in history of a society, etc. conflict theory approaches these cultural trends as manifestation of the maintenance of cultural hegemony of the dominant group(s).
