Modern technology has presented some challenges and some benefits to security and privacy. In your own words discuss this statement in relation to legal and ethical issues, with examples that may affect an IT professional, to illustrate both challenges and benefits described in your answer.?

Indeed modern technology has presented many challenges and benefits to the human race. With the widespread advent of the technology, it is possible for the humans to raise forward and advance in the society to a greater extent. This is the reason why scientists and researchers around the globe are very busy in developing the modern technology at a rapid speed. But, these advancements has both benefits and harms.

EXAMPLE TO ILLUSTRATE THE STATEMENT:

• DATA PRIVACY AND PROTECTION:

Data privacy means that the privacy concerns related to our own data when it is connected to the outer world. This is to say that almost all the devices around the world are globally connected. Moreover, every data related to an individual is being transferred and connected so that the whole details of an individual can be easily traced by a person who is sitting any where in the world. It has both benefits and drawbacks. The benefit being is that we are connected to the outside world to a large extent. But, the drawback is that when we are connected to the outer world like this, the privacy and security concerns are a big threat to everyone. Just for an example, when the Edward snowden has exposed the biggest scandal where the discovery is that of the data concerns an individual and a person can be traced by any agency with simple ease. In fact, using these data the countries around the globe even give quotation to other agencies to capture and get the details of the individuals around the earth. This is infact pinpoints towards the data protection laws of the world. Today, in the world almost every data of ours including the sensitive information such as password, date of birth, health, age, sex, financial data are with in the hands of outside people that is both scary and disastrous. The data concerning us can be manipulated and changed and can be used for any other malicious activities also. The technologies like Internet of Things and big data made it possible for an external person to get our data and work on out. This is a big threat that out perform whatever be its benefits.

• Algorithm based decision making:

Government organisations take public policy based on the results from algorithm based technologies. One of the main problems of such approaches are that despite being efficient in providing solutions for the heavily congested social problems is that it never consider the human emotional elements to it. Such things then ultimately leads to the violation of human rights around the world. For example, when the judge takes a decision purely on the basis of some analytics data that he or she will forget the human elements like sad, compassion which is also required.

SOLUTION TO THE ABOVE PROBLEMS:

One solution to the above problems is that it is necessary to apply encrypted form of data heavily while using machine learning, Artificial intelligence, and big data while applying. This will ensure that the anonymity of the users will be remain so closed and no body especially hackers and crackers cannot utilize this.
