Review the chemical reaction for photosynthesis and then carefully examine your results from Procedure I. Do your results support the relationship between oxygen and carbon dioxide shown in the chemical reaction? Explain. Cite your results as part of your explanation.

Chemical reaction: 6CO2 + 6H2O ------>
C6H12O6 + 6O2
(Sugar)
As per the chemical reaction, 6 CO2 molecules are taken up by the plant to produce 6 O2 molecules.
When we compare sun adapted leaf CO2 consumption and O2 release, it confirms that the amount of CO2 consuption is equal to amount of O2 liberated. The amount of CO2 consumed during photosynthesis in sun adapted leaf is 21.36 PPM, where as the amount of O2 released is also 21.36 PPM. Rate of change of CO2 is -0.53 ppm / sec ,where as the rate of O2 liberated is also +0.53 ppm/sec.
Shade adapted plants also the same is observed. The amount of CO2 consumed during photosynthesis is equal to the amount of O2 released during the process. The amount of CO2 consumed is 12.96 ppm where as the O2 liberated during the process is also 12.96 ppm. The rate of CO2 consumed is -0.32 ppm/sec where as the rate of O2 liberated is +0.32 ppm/sec.
The results of the reaction are showing similar results when we compare it to the chemical equation of the photosynthesis.
