There are different spillover benefits in the given scenario. The first benefit is that students at the University become more focused upon fitness, health and sports as a part of their daily life. It makes them more energetic and full of energy. The second spillover effect is that university is more conscious towards athletic development of the students and University gets more name and fame due to the their athletic wing that is developed under the influence of athletic department. The third spillover benefit is the recognition of students with athletic background and delivery of special treatment in the form of quotas in admission, scholarships and other commitment to these specific students.

The empirical research suggest of the causation effect of athletic department upon the university. On the basis o recommendations of athletic department, the universities have started their own athletic division, get grants and participate in competitions. So, there is a positive impact upon it and athletes get due recognition.
