Is this diet nutritionally adequate for her? Why or why not?
Assume the 24-hour recall shown in the previous question is a typical one-day intake for this person. What, if anything, would you recommend changing in her diet?
1)Is this diet nutritionally adequate for her ? why or why not?
No.The diet is not nutritionally adequate for 68 years old women because she is taking excessive serving of meat which mean that she can have high cholesterol. So she should restrict her meat servings to 2 on daily basis and ensure that she is not taking red meat .Secondly she should increase her milk intake as she needs Calcium and should also eat more servings of vegetables.
2)Assume the 24-hour recall shown in the previous question is a typical one-day intake for this person. What, if anything, would you recommend changing in her diet?
A moderly active 68-year old women should consume around 1,800 calories per day.The woman need to modify her diet by increasing intake of healty foods like low fat dairy products ,fruits, vegetables and whole grain .Moreover she should lower her meat servings and should go for lean meats like fish and poultry. It is important that older people get enough calcium ,an adequate supply can help to maintain bone strength and keep bones healthy drring older age.Vitamin -D is also impotrant for healty bones in older people as it's needed for the absorption of calcium from food ,without Calcium and Vitamin-D bones aren't stong muscles can't properly contract and the blood can't clot so she should increase intake of calcium rich foods.
