write a brief report (2 pages) that focuses on emerging trends in the areas of healthcare analytics, business/clinical intelligence, and big data. define, compare, and contrast those terms: analytics, informatics, business intelligence, and big data.
Big data use in healthcare:
Big data refers to massive amounts of data generated which require supercomputing to interpret and analyse big-data technologies like NGS next generation genomic and transcriptomic sequencing are main areas of personalised genomics. which is thought to be a future of genomic oriented healthcare and medicine. Big data information is very useful in healthcare industry where lots of sensitive data flows on daily basis. Timely analysis of these data can give useful insights to many critical problems of this life saving industry. The data mining is very useful in forecasting the future demand and healthcare industry can make them prepared in advance by using different forecasting method. With the help of data mining the gap in demand and supply can be filled to some extent and data become structured and more meaningful for further process.
HITs (site visits, page requests, page views, downloads etc.) can help with the assimilation of the knowledge extracted from the data by analyzing in the data mining process. It helps to resolve the problems and try to provide solutions from the information received. This process also defines the necessary changes to make it more meaningful and problem solving.
The big data can deal with a large volume of data both structured and unstructured that overflow through a Healthcare sector on a day-to-day basis. Big data can be analyzed for better decision making and strategic movements. It helps the health care research with using the clinical data. Data analysis of the individuals at point of care to identify gaps in quality, risk, utilization and medical history insights etc.
Emerging trends in the areas of healthcare:
1. Digitalization of health records benefits:
To ease work flow- EHR is less time consuming need limited number of personnel to maintain that.
To lower health care cost- It reduces the cost of outpatient care.
To enhance patitent care
To improve public health
2. Big data and the cloud benifts:
Better and safer data storage
Improved access to big data
Reducing health care cost
Predicting epidemics
Improving efficiency and quality of care
Developing new drugs and treatments
3. Information and communication technology benifts:
Shorter waiting time for patients
Improved access for rural areas
Improved efficiency leading to savings
4. High tech surgical procedures:
One of this advancement is robotic surgery. It allows physicians to perform surgery using small, precise tools attached to a robotic arm.
Benefits
Lower rate of complications
Less blood loss
Shorter hospital stay
Less pain
Improved quality of life after surgery
Small incisions for minimal scarring
