An ideal transformer has 50 turns in its primary (input) and 450 turns in its secondary (output). 10.0-V ac is connected to the primary (input). a) What is the voltage on the secondary (output)? b) What is the secondary (output) current if a 10.0- resistor is connected to the secondary (output)? c) What is the power supplied to the primary (input)?
a)
The transformer follows -
Where Ns is the number of turns of secondary coil
Np is the number of turns of primary coil
Vs is the secondary voltage
and Vp is the primary voltage.
We are given - Np = 50, Ns = 450, Vp = 10 . So, solving for Vs we get -
Hence, voltage on the secondary (output) is = 90 V.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
b)
According to Ohm's law -
V = IR
So, for a 10 resistor the current in secondary circuit is -
Hence, the secondary(output) current = 9 A.

c)
In ideal transformer, the power input is same as the power output.
And the power output = VI = (90) x (9) W
= 810 W.
