Solutions

Expert Solution

1.a. In United States, last 30-40 years, the number of pople imprisoned have been historically unprecedented. This population includes less educated, drug- alcohol addicts, people suffering from mental illness. Most of this population is either black or hispanics.

b. Total 2193798 are imprisoned which is approximately 737 per 100000. The jail occupancy leveel is around 108%. The unsentenced prisoners are 21% and the woman prisoners are 9%.

c. Prisoners in 2015- total number 1526800, ther's decrese by 35500 from 2014.

Persons sentenced for more than one year- 1477000

The number per 100000 decreased from 471 to 458 from 2014 to 2015.

2. a. The length of stay (LOS) in prison of course is having a large impact on prison population, As persons sentensed for more than one year around 1477000, it is obvious that due to the rising crime rate, more people will be imprisoned and the prisons will be crowded.

b. Another major reason is the released prisoners do not get the fair social approval and acceptance hence a larger portion of these are likely to be part of crime and are imprisoned and increase the prison population.

Is success a matter of an acquired skill or is more biological, innate or predestined or lying dormant?
