A worker is shoving boxes up a rough plank inclined at an angle 27o above the horizontal. The coefficient of friction increases with the distance x along the plank: μ=Ax, where 0.05 is a positive constant and the bottom of the plank is at x=0. (for this plank the coefficient of kinetic and static friction are equal). The worker shoves a 2 kg box up the plank so that it leaves the bottom of the plank moving at a speed of v1.

Determine:

(a) speed v1(m/s)

(b) maximum distance x from the bottom of the plank so that when the box first comes to rest, it will remain at rest. (m)

(c) What is the total work for a traveled distance 2 m if the initial speed is the same as v1. (J)

(d) What is the speed of the box at 2 m if the initial speed is the same as v1. (m/s)

(e) Determine the initial speed of the box so that it just reaches distance 3 m. (m/s)
