Select at least 4 or 5 of the highest revenue-producing products your firm currently offers to the marketplace or 4 or 5 of the highest revenue-producing companies that it currently operates, and then construct a BCG Matrix using relative market share and market growth rate as your two variables of interest. Identify each of the products (or companies) in your matrix as either a star, question mark (problem child), cash cow, or dog. Finally, for each product (or company) in the matrix, offer your opinion as to the likelihood that it will still be located in the same quadrant five years from now.
Company: Kohl's
BCG Matrix of Kohl’s: 5 year proposition
· Cash Cow: The Women’s clothing SBU has the potential of moving in this quadrant. Kohl’s clothing line is quite famous among the female customers and can prove to be a cash generator in the long run.
· Poor Dog: Kohl’s is not doing that great in the accessories SBU. This business unit will remain in this quadrant unless the company is coming up with some interesting interventions to attract customers.
· Question Mark: The footwear division can move to this quadrant as the company is planning to come up with theme based customization in the coming years
· Star: The men’s clothing range has the potential of moving to the Star quadrant. This SBU is still in its nascent stage and if the company spends time and efforts on this SBU, it will be able to develop a niche for the company in this segment
