Which food groups are often missing from high-calorie, energy-dense diets?
The primary food group can be categorised in five subparts, and if an individual consumes recommended amount of each such subpart then it forms a healthy diet. Along with a healthy diet and regular exercise, an individual can start their path of healthy lifestyle. The five food groups are-vegetables, grains, fruits, protein contaning food and dairy.
High calorie and energy dense food contains mostly the ones which have a high content of fat in them. Fats can be further categorised as foods containing unsaturated fats and foods containing saturated fats. The food items which falls under the category of unsaturated fats are termed as healthy fats, these foods are recommended in a daily diet to have a healthy life. On the other hand, foods which fall under the category of saturated fats are termed as unhealthy fats. Little amount of them are not damaging, but daily intake of these foods can be detrimental to health. Both the category of foods can fall under energy dense and high caloric food. However, having such a diet on an everyday basis misses out the primary food groups which are mentioned above. Such an irregular and imbalanced diet can lead to obesity, diabetes and cardiovascular diseases.
