Question 3 - Suppose that TCP's current estimated values for the round-trip time (estimated RTT) and deviation in the RTT (DevRTT) are 300 msec and 35 msec, respectively. Suppose that the next three measured values of the RTT are 250 msec, 200 msec, and 330 msec respectively. Compute TCP's new value of DevRTT, estimated RTT, and the TCP timeout value after each of these three measured RTT values is obtained. Use the values of α = 0.125, and β = 0.25.

What is the round-trip travel time of light from Earth to Neptune (at a distance of 30 AU)? How far would a spacecraft orbiting the planet at a speed of 0.5 km/s travel during that time? How far would a spacecraft orbiting the planet at a speed of 0.5 km/skm/s travel during that time?

Statistics)) 1.The Round-trip-time between the college and home for a student is normally distributed with a mean of 47 min and a standard deviation of 4.6 min. To one-decimal place, what Round-trip-time would be considered the 70th percentile? Make sure to include units. 2.A recent study showed that the average amount of time spent doing part time job by students at a college is 29 hours per week with a standard deviation of 3.8 hours. If 64 students were selected...

Captain Sarfo is examining the trip manifest for round trip for his personnel carrier, and is trying to plan how much food to bring. His typical run goes from Ganymede station to Mars. As such, he flies Martians almost exclusively, and  plans his trips by approximating food consumption using passenger height. Since transporting excess weight increases fuel costs significantly, Captain Sarfo relies heavily on the accuracy of this prediction (going over or under is very undesirable). Today, there is a conference...

Question 3 Suppose that the estimated simple linear regression of a response Y on a predictor X based on n = 6 observations produces the following residuals: resid <- c(-0.09, 0.18, -0.27, 0.16, -0.06, 0.09) Note: For this question, all of the computations should be performed “by-hand”. (a) (1 point) What is the estimate of σ 2? (b) (2 points) Further, you know that the estimated regression parameters are βˆ 0 = −0.54 and βˆ 1 = 0.08. Additionally, the...

Suppose that the average trip time from your house to school on the train is 24 minutes and that the standard deviation of the population is 4 minutes (sigma=4). We are interested to know whether the average trip time on Thursdays is shorter. We study a sample of 49 trips on Thursdays and the average is 22.75 minutes. Execute a hypothesis test at alpha=10% that the average trip time on Thursdays is shorter (that is, that it requires a smaller...

Suppose your colleague at work uses 1/2 a gallon of gasoline to drive round-trip between his house and the office each day. How much chemical potential energy is stored in each 1/2 gallon? Use the following conversions to express your answer in Joules: 1 gallon of gasoline = 6.2 lbs 1 kg = 2.2 lbs 1 MJ (MegaJoule) = 106 Joules The specific density of gasoline is 46 MJ/kg. That is, there are 46 MJ stored in every kilogram of...
