Describe a correlation analysis, and provide an example of one. Provide examples of dependent and independent variables, as well.
Correlation analysis
Correlation analysis is a method of statistical evaluation used to study the strength of a relationship between two, numerically measured, continuous variables (e.g. height and weight). This particular type of analysis is useful when a researcher wants to establish if there are possible connectionsbetween variables. It is often misunderstood that correlation analysis determines cause and effect; however, this is not the case because other variables that are not present in the research may have impacted on the results
Example
X can be weight of 100 students in a class
Y can be height of those 100 students ina class
the relation between X and Y can be found by above methods
Dependent Correlation:
if there is some correlation i.e the value of r is not equal to zero then they are dependent variables
Ex: weight vs height of a class of 100 students is dependent variable
Independent:
if it is Independent then r value is =0
Ex:
Types of fertilizers given to a plant is independent example
Explanation:
since the given fertilizers are different to the plant sinvce they doesnot depend on each other
