Hetrogeneous catalyst preparation on various support is widely carried out by dry or wet impregnation method. support is impregnated with precursor solution and dried. Further calcinatiodn and temperature reduction is performed for catalyst of desired activity.

In preparation of mix catlayst of Ni/Cu/Fe on Al2O3 hydrated salt of nickle nitrate, hydrated salt of Copper nitrate and hydrated salt of iron nitrate mixed with required water to prepare precursor solution. Sample is dried an dcalcined to prepare catlayst of Ni/Cu/Fe on Al2O3 .

Energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX),XPS,FESEM are some techniques to find compostion of active metal on surface of catalyst.

Once composition is known calculation of individual metal can be determined by precursor salt used in catalyst preparation.

For Example 1% Ni,2%Fe,3% Cu is present in the 100 gm catalyst so totat Ni present 1gm per 95 gm of Al2O3.for 58 gram of Ni present in 283 gram of hydrated nickel nitrate salt hence for 1gm of Ni we calculate amountof Ni. On the basis of Ni amount we can calculate moles and no. of atom of Ni present.Similliarly we find amount of Fe and Cu.
