Stage 4 of psychosocial development is the phase of Industry Vs Inferiority. The duration of this stage is generally between the 5 to 12 years.In this phase of Social Development a child starts to learn so many things. Such as, they starts learning how to read or write.
The child feels a pressure for his academic performance. This pressure can comes from his parents or his teacher. They gets prize and appreciation for their good performance, in other hand they also punished for their bad or wrong activities. Not only that sometime parents starts comparing the child with the other students of the class.
According to Erik Erikson, Encouragement in this stage of life is very much important. Encouragement or appreciation from the parents or teacher can helps to motivate the child. Not only that the child's confidence level can be increased by this kind of encouragement.
In other hand, if the parents are not enough appreciative then the child will face Inferiority complex. The child will doubt about his own ability.
