Online aggregators are indeed more comprehensive than the home listing service that real estate agents use, primarily because of the following reasons:

  1. Content: Online aggregators put together far more content and information than the real estate agents. They put together multiple links to other relevant sources which home buyer can find useful. Their listings are far more informative. Real estate agents listings are very restrictive and limited. They fear losing customers to one another and at times don't post crucial information on their listings.
  2. Transparency: Online aggregators are also far more transparent in their listings. They provide source of information. They provide references for cross checking and cross referencing. Real estate agents listings are not that transparent. They don't provide external linkages, sources of information or any lind of contact details for cross references or cross checking.
