American football uses a field that is 100.0 yd long, whereas a soccer field is 100.0 m long. Which field is longer, and by how much (give yards, meters, and percent)?

Solutions

Expert Solution

Given data in the question are as follows

Size of American football field is 100.0yd.

(We know that 1 yd =0.9144m.)

In this case the 100.0yd will be 91.44m

And the size of soccer field is given by 100.0m.

Now,by substracting size of football field from soccer field we will get the result how much soccer field is longer than football.

So,100m-91.44m=8.56m.

{As 1yd=0.9144m

=>1m=(1/0.9144)yd}

Now,8.56m will be equal to

8.56*(1/0.9144)=9.36132983377078yd

=>(8.56)*(1/0.9144)=9.36yds

In this case we can clearly seen that the soccer field is bigger than football field so we can find "how much long in percentage" in this manner that

{(How much long is soccer field in size in meters)/(total size of feild in meters)}{100}%

=(8.56/91.44)(100)

=9.36132983377078%

=9.36%.

Summary:-So, the soccer field is longer than football.

In meters:- The soccer field is 8.56meters longer than football field.

In yards:- The soccer field is 9.36yds longer than football field.

In percent:- The soccer field is 9.36percents longer than football field.

Thank you.

Activity 1: How far can a soccer player kick a soccer ball down field? Through the application of a linear function and a quadratic function and ignoring wind and air resistance one can describe the path of a soccer ball. These functions depend on two elements that are within the control of the player: velocity of the kick (v k ) and angle of the kick (?).
