Discus what is meant by strong need of approval and easily discourage during intellectual development in adolescent
Eric Erickson gave 8 stages of development in a child starting from childhood to adolescent to adulthood to middle aged to old age and death.
There are intellectual , emotional, psychological, social, behavioural and physiological / biological changes that happen in our body . From stage 1 to stage 8 , we all go through theses stages of development and successfully cover each milestone.
- Intellectual changes that occur in adolescence stage which is between 13 to 19 years of age are young minds are curious to know and develop their thoughts over issues/ subjects or matters that they hear and watch their elders discussing about. They want to develop intellectual pursuits and form their own judgements basis that.
- The young minds / youth wants to have the active learning way to redefine and relive the path of learning. There ideology is to learn by doing and not just reading or mugging things but to perform and learn the concept.
- They want to have excessive interaction with their friends so they can compete in knowledge and experience.
- Children want validation or approval from their elders, teachers or friends when they act upon an idea or perform a task . They want a feedback which is in favour of them. This is the age when a child seeks approval of his endeavours and if didn't receive any approval will damage their self respect or faith in themselves to make or take a decision.
- Children look up to their elders and watch them , learn from them, they often challenge their elders in order to unguard their authority over them. Strong observation skills are keen and actively seen in the young minds.
- Also, students in this age would opt for unconventional or off the beat career options, choosing a different career option unlike the usual or traditional career paths. They are curious to try and carve their own niche or path. Curious about subjects in the world or concerls about worldly affairs.
- Also they are keen on learning new skills and develop nstrong sense of humour and communication skills.
