Policies and programs related to homelessness and homeless persons

Shelter homes

Setting up shelter homes for homeless people in situations of hurricanes, floods, snowstorms, etc is very important. They often search for shelter in such times and shelter homes are the best way to provide shelter and care for homeless persons. Many NGOs in my community do set up shelter homes for homeless people in need.

Rescue programs and missions

The government needs to ensure that rescue missions are conducted during times of crisis such as natural disasters or terrorist attacks to rescue and protect the homeless. It is in these times that the homeless people look for help, care, and places to take shelter.

Clinics providing free healthcare

Homeless people do require healthcare that is either affordable or free. Health camps and vaccination programs need to be conducted to prevent spread of diseases due to unhygienic conditions or contaminated food and water.

Child safety and protection

Homeless children require utmost care and protection as they are more vulnerable to diseases, abuse, and exploitation. They need to be protected from child trafficking and child labor. Vaccination programs to prevent diseases and ensure decent health levels are necessary.

Provision of food and drinking water

Many NGOs in my community provide free food and clean drinking water to the homeless. Excess food from restaurants and wedding lunches/ dinners are distributed among the homeless. This way food wastage is prevented and stomachs of the homeless are filled.

Everyone has a share on our planet and the right to live with liberty. Whether they live in homes or on the road, let them live in peace.
