Expert Solution

Functions of a router:

There are three main functions of a router. They are:

  • Packet Forwarding: Forwarding the packet from source to the destination once the destination network is available in routing table otherwise drop the packets.
  • Packet Switching: To forwars the packets from source to destination the packet needs to move between interfaces.
  • Packet filtering: It is the process of filtering the packet based on IP address.

Advantages of static routing:

  • The major advantage of static routing is its predictability.
  • It is simple to implement.
  • Consumes no bandwidth with updates.

Disadvantages of static routing:

  • Static routes need physical effort.
  • If more routes are present then the manual effort should be increased.
  • The suboptimal path is used when there is more than one path to the destination.
  • If the path used by the static route stops working it will require manual effort to configure a different path.

1) You have a device that wants to transmit many packets to a router, which is sometimes busy serving other users. At every second, your device attempts to send a packet. It succeeds with probability 1/5 and the success of any attempt is independent of the success of other attempts. What is the average number of attempts until the first success? 2)You have a device that wants to transmit many packets to a router, which is sometimes busy serving other...

When you try to automatically process human speech, you frequently try to understand what the person was saying (or trying to say) from very ambiguous sounds. For instance, the phrases “Recognize speech” and “Wreck a nice beach” sound very similar when pronounced by the average American speaker. As humans, when we process speech, we always use the context of a word to judge what the speaker is probably trying to say. Our minds automatically discard options that are very inconsistent...
