Solutions

Expert Solution

The working condition in the given time period became better in the sense that loss of lives due to the working conditions decreased. Though, industrial revolution had already taken place, but casualties were high in the early and mid of the 20th century. But, with the formation of OSHA act (occupation safety and health administration act) in 1971, the factories were forced to apply all the safety requirements that could make a work place to be safe and healthy for the individuals. It definitely improved the working conditions on a relative basis. At the same time, the direct exposure to the hazardous chemicals, waste and other device, also decreased considerably. It improved the working conditions and reduced the fatalities.  At the wage level, Fair labor Standards Act was already in place but wage rate was at the lower level in the given period. So, despite improvement in a work place, wage rate could not become much better and specifically in the manufacturing industry.

Above are some of the glimpses of the working conditions in the mentioned time period.

The mid-to-late 90s in the United States were characterized by increasing productivity, increasing wealth, and very optimistic firm and consumer expectations for the macroeconomy.
