Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) is entitled the free education for all qualified disabled within the jurisdiction. This regulation comes unde ED Section 504 which includes, any person whi has a phusical and mental impairment which substantially limits one or major life activities, any person who has a record of impairment and any person who has is regarded as having such an impairment.
Requirements of FAPE:
An appropriate education should reach this disabled which comprises regualr school education with related aids and services, special attention and related services in separate classrooms. Special education includes specially designed infrastructure, instructions in the classroom at home, institutions accompained hy related services such as speech therapy, physical therapy, psychological counselling and meddical diagnostic when necessary for the child. All the services should be provides at free of cost. Some common accomodations and modifications should be done according the way the are receptive. for example if a person is blind instead of reading text he can listen to the audio, audio books, vedios, movies instead of reading printing versions.Recording the lesson instaed of taking notes, hear instructions spoken aloud, use spelling dictionary or spell checker.
For kids who needs special attention needs individual education programme. The information ina n IEP give a deeoer understanding of a child's strength and challenges, this should lay out how the school plans to help the child improve and build skils. The child should be taught at least restrictive environment. The child should try to learn along with the students who don't receive special attention.
Not required of FAPE:
The disabled child should be provided with the best services possible or child's potential should be maximized. rather provide services that are reasonably calculated to help your child make progress.The child should be involved in any spot or in any extra curricular activity ot sport. FAPE doesn't give your child a right to preferential treatment for clubs and sports. the school will give the child the equal opportunity to participate.
