How have your thoughts on leisure changed because of this course? Identify at least one change that you have made or plan on making in regards to your own approach to leisure and well-being. In addition, please read the paper and watch the video “This is Water” by David Foster Wallace and give three points, which struck you as important in regards to leisure and how you think about it at the end of the course, opposed to prior to the course.
Definately yes! Leisure time no doubt is the most precious time in an individual's life, a time to rejuvenate and get a creative knack of the happenings around one's close environment. The course, without second thought has brought in a drastic change in the way leisure time should be spent constructively. I plan to spend my leisure time by giving my due attention to think about the vents of my entire day, especially giving a thought to the troublesome aspects that led to a negative trail of emotions and would critically invest my time in analyzing how I can creatively solve them by providing it with a newer perception. Also it is important to shift the focus from ME to OTHERS and the possible causes of this trouble or problem that remains unsresolved.
David Fosters' sayings embark a difference in my previous and current plans in following 3 big things that I wish to take:
1. Understand everything is just not about ME - this brings in a desire to bring a shift in perception, to spend the leisure time in a constructive way to enhance your neural circuits and come to a solution to the problem.
2. Mind is a beautiful servant but a dangerous master - beautifully said and its very important to understand that this emphasis as made again and again is to better understand that this thinking that has been a gift of education, empowers us but at the same time must be controlled and critically attended to before it becomes a case of inteligence turned against oneself leading to dangerous consequences.
3. the another important aspect is to understand the importance of leisure time and of constant timely philosophical teachings being brought in the consciousness time and again are of utmost importance just so as to get a proper direction towards the leisure time.
