Solutions

Expert Solution

The policy suggestions are as follows:

1. Apply supply side fiscal policy to give subsidies as well as corporate tax relief to the firms who produce mask. It will make these firms to deploy additional resources to produce masks at war footing and cater the demand.

2. Encourage tailoring professionals and garments makers and allied industries to work on producing masks to cater the demand. While doing so, the governor should provide short term training (1 -2 days) and necessary modifications in machines to make a good stock of masks in the economy. For these people and firms also, special package should be declared by the governor.

3. Take policy action to prohibit hoarding of mask and also prevent seller charging excessive prices for the mask.

4. Make formal agreements with the other partner countries for the import of mask where the coronavirus pandemic has not yet spread. It will also be able to help cater the demand in the country.

So, above are some of the suggestions, to be given to the governor.
