what are the Mechanical treatment, biological treatment and Physico-chemical treatment for Municipal waste the Sultanate of Oman. and what are the economic, environmental and social impact of these treatments.

Solutions

Expert Solution

● A mechanical biological treatment system is a type of munciple waste processing facility that combines a sorting facility and a form of biological treatment such as composting or anaerobic digestion.

MBT plants are designed to process mixed household waste as well as commercial and industrial wastes.

● They can also done separately like sorting in mechanical treatment and composting and anarobic digestion in biological treatment.

● Physico-chemical treatment of wastewater focuses primarily on the separation of colloidal particles. This is achieved through the addition of chemicals (called coagulants and flocculants).

◆ The results showed that raw Munciple solid waste management by landfill (mechnical method) was the worst management option because it affects the ground water quality.

Composting (biological), Incineration (physicochemical) the large amounts of chemicals consumption for fly ash and exhaust treatment were also issues leading to relatively higher life cycle environmental, social and economical impacts.

If helpful then give ?.

Thank you.

Waste management is a challenging issue for the Sultanate of Oman due to high waste generation rates and scarcity of disposal sites. With population of almost 3 million inhabitants, the country produced about 1.6 million tons of solid waste in 2010. The per capita waste generation is more than 1.5 kg per day, among the highest worldwide. Solid waste in Oman is characterized by very high percentage of recyclables, primarily paper (26%), plastics (12%), metals (11%) and glass (5%). However...

Our skeletal muscle is a fascinating biological tissue able to transform chemical energy to mechanical energy. It is the most abundant tissue in the human body (40-45%) of total body weight and provides strength and protection to the skeleton. 1. Pick any musculoskeletal activity in daily life or sport and identify the main muscles responsible for the movement and their roles in the movement 2. What are the typical types of fibers in these muscles, how are these fibers organized...

A Solid waste management company in Sultanate of Oman has decided to establish a bio energy based system at Barka. As an engineer with good knowledge on energy, you are assigned with a task to study the feasibility of biogas production plant at that location. Suggest an efficient biogas generation plant with suitable biomass, type of biogas digester with a proposed diagram, their advantages and disadvantages. What would be your conclusion about this plant? Justify your answer.

Summarize this: Biological, Chemical, & Other Non-Nuclear Threats Biological, chemical and other non-nuclear threats, such as cyber and drone attacks, constitute a class of weapons that may not cause as much mass physical destruction as nuclear weapons can, but can result in significant mass effects on, and/or mass disruptions to, a targeted populace. Weapons experts still debate whether these non-nuclear weapons can truly be considered weapons of mass destruction; however, certain types of biological weapons, such as weaponized smallpox or...

Waste water treatment is a crucial process to ensure that the waste water can be safely recycled back to the environment. However, there are certain challenges or issues related to this waste water treatment that can endanger the environment. In your opinion (supported by journal or academic references), what are those challenges and how can civil engineers prevent those happening>
