20. Benchmarking is the process of comparing the activities and results of the organisation's operations with the best organisations in the industry to have a thorough knowledge about the market and about the best practices being performed.

21. The three cyclic phases of Controlling are:

  • Establishing standards: In this, the standards or the goals are set by which and in accordance the performance would be measured further.
  • Measuring and comparing actual results against standards: This is the step in which the measurement of the actual performance and the standard is being checked and measured to analyse the deviations.
  • Taking corrective action: At last, by analysing the deviations, corrective actions are taken to overcome the shortcomings and perform the best.

22. Originally, there exists 3 main types of Organisation's chart which are Hierarchical Organisation Matrix and Flat. Although, the two most common used are the Hierarchical and the Matrix Organisation. Hierarchical is the one in which every entity is the subordinate to another entity which is one. Flat is the organisational structure having no or less middle level managers which have a direct supervision and a high dehree of span of control. Matrix on the other hand is the combination of Flat and Hierarchal structure where levels and no. of people are managed together.
