Discuss how the legacy of the First World War overshadowed or informed decisions made by the Western Allies and the resulting appeasement strategy that was developed during the 1930s. Was it a logical strategy in the face of this legacy?
On the outbreak of World War I, the entire world witnessed huge economic losses and massive count of deaths. Because of such a loss of both economic resources and human lives, the world became quite caution in dealing with the diplomatic alliances with a lot of care, especially which have the potential of converting into an international tension. After the war, different countries combined together not establish the League of Nation which was having the main objective of preventing any incidence which could lead o the second World War.
In fact, an appeasement policy was also adopted by the Western Allies. Different policies were adopted to resolve various international conflicts peacefully. This was considered to be the best strategy to deal with the tensions.
If we look closely, this policy was not one of the best. This provided a platform to the dictator such as Adolf Hitler of Germany to become a powerful leader in his country and the increased ambitions led to the outburst of yet another world war commonly known as World War II.
