Ans : Drainage and Dewatering are the terms which are used for the same but their is a small difference between them and that is in drainage it is a natural or artificial removal of water from the surface and subsurface from the given area whereas in case of dewatering it is simply a method or a technique used for removal of water from solid or a structure respectively .

• Well Point System with Suction pipes
• Shallow well System with pumps
• Deep Well System with pumps
• Vacuum Method
• Electro Osmosis Method

IMPORTANCE Of DRAINAGE AND DEWATERING :

• It reduces air pressure in tunneling operations .
• By using this we can increase the stability of soil .
• With the help of this we can bring about construction work below water table .
• Regaining of water logged areas , so as to carry out other works on that piece of land .
• Improves supporting characteristics of foundation materials .
