Criston Sand is fresh manufacturing and selling sandwiches ordered by customers. The sandwich ordered is packaged with drinks, salads and fruits and given to customers. First of all, in the waiting line, customers refer to the menu on the wall and fill out the order on the order sheet and pass it on to one of the employees who are making sandwiches. Customers then go to the next location and choose the items (e.g., snacks, desserts, etc.) to order and head to the checkout counter. After paying at the checkout counter, you receive the sandwich you ordered at the guided location. Customers use an average of 45 seconds to order sandwiches (see menu, select, and fill out the order sheet). Assume that the average number of visits to all activities is one. It takes 90 seconds to make a sandwich. 60 seconds will be used to select additional orders. It takes 40 seconds to calculate at the counter. It takes 20 seconds to get the finished sandwich. Currently, Criston Sand employs two cashier clerks, six sandwich-making staff and one staff member who hand over a manufactured sandwich. Long queues are often formed, especially during busy times of the day, such as lunchtime. In this case, can increasing the number of sandwich-making staff help reduce customer queues?
Answer:
No,increasing the number of sandwich making staff does not reduce the customer queues.Becuase the customer orders the sandwich and they move to the other place. They need not wiat in the queue till the sandwich is prepared. They need to wiat in the queue only to order and pay for the sandwich. So even the number of sandwich staff is increased the queue will not reduce.Customer takes most of the time in looking at the order and it takes time in calculating the order. So if the number of order counters and cash counter is increased then the customer queue will reduce .The customer need not stand for a long time in a single queue for ordering if thre are multiple counters.so order and cash counters should be increased instead of increasing the sandwich making staff.Increasing the sandwich making staff is not related to the customer queue because they order and checkout to the guided location.
