It has been said that technology will be the end of management. Maybe. How about artificial intelligence? Explain why yes, no, under what considerations.

Solutions

Expert Solution

Answer: No I don’t feel that the Artificial Intelligence (AI) will be an end for the management function. But yes it will certainly change it extensively. AI is gradually becoming smarter and replacing a number of roles which the human plays. AI is taking up larger roles but still there are certain areas in which it has not been able to perform well. It is true that in terms of logical reasoning and decision making AI may completely replace managers because of its superior nature. But at the same time when it comes to a major managerial function of human aspect, the AI does not fit well. AI lacks in emotions and hence cannot develop relationships and rapports with others which is one of the most important requirements for a successful manager. This indicates that though it may be better to humans in terms of planning, organizing and so on, it lacks in terms of the human angle because of lack of emotions. Therefore AI or any other technological innovation cannot be an end of the management function.
