Business Environment

Environment refers to surroundings or milieu in which a person or organization operates. it refers to all external forces, which have a bearing on the functioning of business.The business environment may offers opportunities or poses threats to firm for potential market exploitation. The business environment is basically classified as technological, economic, political, natural, global and social environment.

Assessment of Business Environment

It involves some steps :

1. Scanning, deals with general surveillance of environmental factors and their relationships. It helps to identify and detect the environmental changes.

2. Monitoring, involves tracking the environmental trends, streams of activities and sequence of events.

3. Forecasting, involves developing the projections of direction, scope, and intensity of environmental change.

4. Assessment, this element tries to answer the questions such as what are the main issues presented by the environment, and what are the implications of issues for the organization.

Business Ethics

The word ethics refers to rules or principles that define right and wrong conduct. Business ethics is concerned with justice and truth and has a variety of aspects such as expectations of society, fair competition, advertising , social responsibility, public relations and corporate behaviour in the home country and abroad. The business ethics may be categorized as Moral management, Amoral management and Immoral management.

2. Ethics is important because the government and law cannot do everything to protect the society.

3. Ethics corresponds to basic human needs. It is human trait that man desires to be ethical, not only in his private life but also in business. These basic ethical requirement force the organizations to be ethically oriented.
