Why was George Washington important in setting the standard for all U.S. presidents to come?​

George Washington was elected as the first president of United States on February 4, 1789. As he was the first president, he wanted to set an example of great work and responsibility for his nation so that the coming presidents might follow him for the welfare of newly made USA.

Mr. Washington always believed that it was important to make the presidency strong enough so that it can hold the new nation integrated. Although at the same time he was concerned about many issues like monarchy, dictatorship, again war like situations and other problems because USA was completely new, so there are always such possibilities of risk.

Mr. Washington was a man who was considered greater than the government itself. He was real legend and hero of revolution. If he wished, he could have become king or emperor of USA foe as long time as he wish but he believed in democracy. He just stepped down after two successive terms of presidency. Keeping the fundamental rules of democracy in mind, he gave the opportunity of becoming president to someone else who was deserved candidate after completing his own tenure. He set himself as an ideal example by his actions for the welfare, rapid growth and improvements in the country. He made many progressive policies to collect tax so that the newly born country can accelerate itself in the direction of development after bloody & destructive civil war. Definitely, Mr. Washington will always be the greatest president of America.
