Question 4. The increase in globalised trade is said to
be positively correlated to and the result of increasing
implementation of unitisation in freight transport.
analyse the above statement and provide explanation in
detail
The unitisation of freight transport does have positively influenced and promoted the globalisation of trade. More appropriately it can be termed as an important facilitator in making the globalisation of trade more convenient and easy. The global trade is considerably increased by the freight transport through encouraging the exchange of various goods and services outside the boundaries and between nations this integrating them with one another.
Therefore there has been close relations between the international trade and international transport. Thus the level of development in unitisation of freight transport depicts and reflects the level of development in globalised trade.
There are several dimensions associated with unitisation of freight transport that reveal it has put significantly and positively affect the trade mostly the exports. As they facilitate
several dimensions capturing logistics performance have statistically significant and positive effect, mostly on exports. The main policy implication is that continuous investment in logistics infrastructure and services can positively impact international trade through consolidating the small quantities of cargo into onr large shipping unit for efficient and effective transport of goods. This fast, convenient and properly handled freight transport lowers the export cost and shortens the delivery time thus encouraging more exports to countries. Further the implementation of unitisation in freight transport had increased the dynamics of exchange as the goods which were previously mind wrenching to be transported to countries due to their fragile nature are now easily transported. Therefore unitisation in freight transport has made globalisation of trade more diverse through covering forest products, previous metals, machines, electronics, food chemicals, explosive items etc.
Therefore the above statement holding that the increase in globalised trade is said to be positively correlated to and the result of increasing implementation of unitisation in freight transport is true to a very great extend.
