What is a company’s obligation to contribute to the natural resource’s sustainability?
If so, what does that obligation look like? Is this limited to local resources or globally as well?
Every company has to mandatory follow CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY which includes the obligation towards concern for the society as well as environment. The company while fulfilling the obligations towards its various stakeholders shouldn't harm the environment or exploit the resources.
Since the organisation uses the resources of the earth and society
so its it the responsibility of the business to pay back in terms
of resolving the issues of society as well as environment. Also
there are several government regulations which has made it
compulsory and any business avoiding to do the same is penalized.
Also nowadays he companies are judged by the concerns they have for
environmental protection and are accordingly able to gain the trust
of customers.
This may include-
-Minimizing wastage of natural resources and bringing in efficiency
of existing resource
-Providing various alternative methods where renewable resources
can be used in place of non-renewable resources
-Providing goods which are free from environment harm
-Industrial ecology and supply chain management
The resources of earth have no national boundaries. Therefore the concept of natural resource sustainability is not just restricted to the nation's resource but to the world's resource which includes air, water and soil.
