How was slavery practice in England before the transatlantic slave trade?
During the 1500s Africa was a continent of diverse languages, cultures, and political structures. During this period within Africa the slavery existed and the enslaved people were also been sold to the traders from Europe. Some of them were enslaved due to crime or debt or as prisoners of war. However after the arrival of American and European ships offering trading products in exchange for people, Africans find an added incentive on enslaving each other through the kidnapping. The financial incentives for tribes and warlords who were engage in the trade encouraged an atmosphere of violence and lawlessness. A continuing fear of captivity and Depopulation made agricultural and economic development nearly impossible throughout much of western Africa. The major percentage of the individuals taken captive were young men who normally would have begun their families; and women in their childbearing years. During the 15th century the transatlantic slave trade began when Portugal, and subsequently other kingdoms in Europe, were finally able on expansion in overseas and reach Africa
