HRM is related to acquiring services from people, development of their skills, motivating them to the elite level and ensuring that they continue to maintain their commitment towards the organization.
HRM relates to the management of employees from recruitment to retirement. There are different functions of HRM but here we will discuss basic five functions.


i). Recruitment and Selection- The process of fascinating, screening and selection of qualified candidates on the basis of objective criteria for a specific job. Its aim is to attract qualified candidates and encourage the unqualified candidates to keep themselves out.
Companies need to execute proper staffing plans and the number of employees needed before starting the process of recruitment. This process is very important for every organization to reduce the cost of mistakes like recruiting incompetent, unmotivated and underqualified employees. Firing the unqualified and recruiting a new employee is an expensive process.


ii). Orientation- This step helps the new employees to adjust themselves with their employer and their new job. The orientation program should consider the objectives and goals of the organization and how the employees will help to achieve long term and short term goals of the organization. This program helps the employees to do their assigned work by taking an active role in the organization.


iii). Good working conditions- HRM has a responsibility to provide good working conditions to the employees so that they get motivated towards their workplace and working environment. HRM should provide financial and non-financial benefits for employees from various departments. Employee welfare promotes the satisfaction of a job which is needed to be managed by the HR team.


iv). Employee relations management- One of the crucial function of HRM is employee relationship that is needed to foster good employee relations. It helps to influence behavior and work outputs of workers. Activities should be organized by the management that will help to know employees at a professional and personal level. Well planned employee relations help to promote a healthy and balanced relationship between employees and employers.


v). Training and development- It is the indispensable function of HRM for improving the current or future performance of employees by increasing their ability with the help of education and increase in skills or knowledge in the specific subject.
