Social Media Exercise #12
Casper makes and sells memory foam mattresses through its Web site. Unlike many mattress retailers, Casper sells just one mattress, though in all available sizes, including one for dogs. It prices the mattresses below that of most brick-and-mortar mattress stores and offers a 100-day trial period to help nudge customers into clicking the "buy" button. The young company doesn't spend a lot on advertising, so building brand recognition and preference is key to achieving sales. One way the firm does so is through its @Casper Twitter account, which tweets in the persona of a Casper mattress, especially late at night when those having trouble sleeping are likely to be perusing social media. The tweets are often amusing and timely one-liners about sleep, though followers are likely to find humorous memes, GIFs, and videos, as well as links to information about sleep and insomnia in the timeline.
1. Go to Twitter.com and search for @Caspers and look through recent tweets in the account's timeline. How is Casper using humor and pop culture to build brand loyalty?
2. What is the role of humor in Casper's tweet? In what ways does humor move customers closer to making a purchase, if at all?
Since its opening in 2014 Casper is taking its achievement to
offline and the company is proving that, there is no need to spend
millions and billions and important is how much the company is
interacting with the people. The company is making a huge fan base
through its twitter by using humor. The young and mature company
show us the strategy how to do marketing and proved that marketing
is not much harder for those who have better ideas to reach
people.
There is no better way to reach people through social media by
utilisung humor and small tweets and videos. The twitter account is
tweeting more in the late night because it identifies its type of
customers and they mainly insomniacs and need a better sleep. The
Company making them as their fans instead of just followers in
social media. The company recognises that anything having huge
fanbase can never let it down. After just checking their twitter
account we can understand that there are many people waiting for
the tweets from @Casper. This is showing the changing mentality of
people from skipping advertisements to waiting for it when the
strategy is changed.
The humor in Casper's tweet has much important because the people
are praising and humor sense of the twitter handler and the reason
behind why people are waiting for the tweets really make a huge
fanbase not only for the twitter account but for the company as
well. Such humor will help to remeber the company always and the
customers will feel they are also member of the company when they
frequently getting busy with the social media account of the
company.
