Summarize the physical changes that occur in late adulthood with respect to the brain, sensory capacities, circulatory and respiratory systems, and sexuality.
The late adulthood is a stage of life from the 60s onwards, it constitutes the last stage of physical changes. Average life expectancy in United States is around 80 years, however this varies greatly based on factors such as socio metric status, regions and access to medical care.
Physical changes- The late adult hood experiences rapid physical change than any other stage, the neuron count in the brain reduced, muscles get rigid, organs start to loss their capability. Due to the less release of gonads hormones, an individual experiences sexual disorientation and less energy.
The circulatory system get affected by stress, malnutrition, lack of physical activities or chronic diseases like diabetes, cardiac problem etc. the process of respiration get slower than young so that sometimes blood flow to brain or other body parts can experiences psychical problems.
Psychological changes- The late adulthood also experiences various psychological changes like less memory capacity, lack of attention, rigid and sometimes rude behaviour and insomnia. Psychological changes depends on various factors like social participation, physical activities, stress, depression etc.
Emotional Changes- The late adulthood stage experiences many emotional changes, people get low control over emotions so that they can developed many emotional problems which influence psychological problem. An adult can behave like a child while sometimes behaviour can change.
