A road of formation width 12 m is to be constructed with side slopes of 1 vertical to 2 horizontal in cut and 1 vertical to 3 horizontal in fill. The existing ground surface has a cross fall of 1 vertical to 8 horizontal and it will intersect the formation 1.5 m to the left of the center line and 1.0 m to the right of the center line at two cross sections 20 m apart. Calculate the areas related to the cut and fill at the two sections. Hence calculate the outstanding volume of cut or fill remaining after the establishment of the formation between the two sections.
