The general environment consists of various external factors that impact the functioning of a business. These factors include social, cultural, economic, technological, legal, and political factors. A business might depend on any or all of these factors and a variation in any of these factors can affect the business directly or indirectly. The task environment is associated with the ability of an organization to cope with these challenges and procure the necessary resources in order to deliver. It is an obvious assumption that the task environment is dependent on the general environment. For example, society’s technological preferences changes with time and they need more sophisticated gadgets to be satisfied. Hence, organizations belonging to this industry constantly need to stay updated and modify their goals and tasks to satisfy the consumers. The enacted environment is the perceived quality of the general and task environment. It basically entails the thought that every action and its effects must be perceived before it is implemented. Thus, the enacted environment influences the ways in which a company decides to tackle a situation. However, the success or failure of the decision is entirely dependent on the general and task environment.
