and understand sets the goal of future success. The goal of reading
is many but it primarily include children fluency and confidence
that they understand the meaning of reading and use it as a source
of both knowledge and enjoyment. The task is making reading
compatible is all set by the guided teacher in school or any other
institutions. Effective phonics and word recognition instruction
build calmly on children understanding and use of the both speaking
and written language. The teacher can try different type of
strategy to accommodate student needs some try and possible effort
are discussed below:
- BEFORE THE LESSON: Provide basic materials
like provide lecture outline, handover study guidelines and
worksheet, script of a film and pre teach hard vocabulary and
concepts to some extent introduction of the task.
- DURING THE LESSON: make them to take notes and
highlight with colour pencils, make the student close his eyes and
try to visualize the information, provide compact explanation,
provide written as well as oral direction to students, when giving
direction try to stop between each step so that the student can
carry out the process and think for a minute amount of time in his
mind, cut the listening time as short as possible, provide written
and manipulative work, be concise, gentle and generous with verbal
information.
- IF THE STUDENT IS FACING DIFFICULTY IN SHARING
ORALLY: accept alternate form of sharing like
demonstration, tap records , charts or maps, photo essay or written
lines, give the rules and regulation for class discussion, make the
student learn how to ask a question or specially teach of the body
and language expression, wait for the student to respond.
- IF THE STUDENT IS FACING DIFFICULTY IN READING
MATERIAL: shorten the amount of required reading, provide
underline notes, allow a peer to read it loud in front of him,
motivate the student cheer or provide him the confidence, lesser
the amount of ideas, help the student visualize what he has read so
that his artificial image in mind provide him with a better
look.
- IF THE STUDENT HAS DIFFICULTY EXPRESSING HIMSELF IN
WRITTING: accept alternate forms like oral reports,
Photographic essay, Panel discussion, Mock debate, allow excess
time, shorten the assignments.
- IF THE STUDENT HAS DIFFICULTY SPELLING:
dictate the word and then ask the student to write it, understand
the meaning of the word in a simple language which will be easier
for him to grab early, avoid penalizing for mistakes or error made,
Hang words from the ceiling during memorizing or hang them on the
board or wall as constant visual cues.
These are all the aspects a teacher can try and rectify student
standard related to phonic and word recognition.
