Q = Question

R = Read

S = Self-recite

T = Test

It consists of 5 steps which are mentioned below :

1. Preview : In this step you have to read the chapter preface and overview at the beginning of the chapter. And try to Pay attention to the headings of the sections and subsections , various parts of that chapter. Then comes the summary , read the summary . In this all this is done to get an idea of the main topics and sections of the chapter.

2. Question : In this step when you going through each section or subsections, develop a habit of asking yourself “what am I supposed to learn in this section”. This makes your brain in sync with the topic also helps in improving your concentration .

3. Read : In this step you really need to read each and every section. With maximum concentration, by trying to find out the meaning and trying to relate this to other things like with similar topics. highlighting of key words. You do not need to highlight each and everyline , read the entire section and then summarize it afterwards .

4. Self-Recite : In this step you try to remember the main points of each section and try to memorize it by saying it loud .Then come back to the section find out those things that you have missed out mark those points and memorize it. This would ensure that you don`t miss out on any important points. After doing this then jump onto the next section and start asking question again.

5. Test : In this step you have finished the entire chapter. Trying asking yourself how many of the main ideas/points from the chapter can you recall ? Trying solving the puzzle of the entire story that you have gone through , so as to make it a complete picture . If your are still not able to recall any of the chapter then reread that chapter summary which you have made . Now its the time to test yourself , how much you actually remember about that chapter by testing urself .
