The supreme court of India on 8th April, 2020 released an issue regarding providing the doctors with PPE ( Personal protective Equipment ) , sterilizing equipment, medical mask, goggles etc.
Brief introduction :Indian judicial system has supreme court > high court > district court > panchayat level judgement courts. The highest authority goes to supreme court with ultimate judgement Powers.
The judgement came after the wake of CoVID 19 , and india suffering with high number of cases and lack of protective gear for the medical officers. The plea was raised by a Maharashtra based doctor( a state in India). The govt has issued money compensation for the medical officers contracting the virus while treating the patients. The cost for testing kits for the patients was limited to 4500 , which was still high for the people facing need to test on multiple days consecutively keeping in view the low purchasing power of Indians.
In addition supreme court issued direction to state and center to find alternative for home made protective gear and prevent the export of medicines since the situation can go critical and no vaccine was discovered by then.
