What happen to actual carbon chain of the protein if person eats more protein than their body needs?

Solutions

Expert Solution

(1) If you eat more protein than your body can use, some would be converted and stored as fat, and the excess nitrogen would be excreted by the kidneys.

(2) When proteins are broken down into fatty acids and ketones, the buildup of ketones will give you bad breath and an unpleasant body odor.

(3) Some people experience bowel problems, either in the form of constipation or diarrhea, often times due to the lack of fiber in the diet.

(4) When the protein is broken down, the nitrogen products must be flushed from the body and, often, water that is needed elsewhere is used for this, causing you to become dehydrated.

(5) If your protein source is red meat, then there is an increased risk you may develop heart disease and/or cancer. This increased risk is not seen in persons whose primary source of protein, even in excess, is from plants.

(6)Eating too much protein can weaken the bones because, when protein is metabolized by the body, acid byproducts are released, which can lower blood pH and cause calcium to leach from the bones.

There are over 5,000 banks in the United States—more than 10 times more per person than in other industrialized countries. A recent study suggests that the long-run average cost curve for an individual bank is relatively flat. If Congress took steps to consolidate banks (merge some of the banks), thereby reducing the total number to 2,500, what would you expect to happen to average costs within the banking industry?
