The provisions of constitution of US had limited the early presidency.The three main personalities Thomas Jefferson, John Adam and George washington has shaped the presidency into more influential position in early 19 th century.Therefore until 1930 , the dominant branh of the national government was congress .Then within the 20th century there was a shift in the balance of power , the branch (executive) has the lowest power currently .The constiution assigned the power to presient like Military power, iplomtic power, Chief of armed services, Appointment power ,Legislative power,etc. The strenghtening of presient occured because of the congress dominance over executive branch until the 1930 The presients of US had played important role to congress for many years .Exeptions like Woorow wilson, Theodore Roosevelt ,Andrew Jckson and Abraham Lincoln. establishd a base for the turning point which came with franklin roosevelt presidency in 1930s .The Andrew Jackson was greatly loved by most people , he used his personal power with image which helped in streghthen the party system by rewaring the followers who were loyal with the appoitmnet of presient .The power assumed by Abraham lincoln was such that no presient ever ha claimed as major reason was civil war in 1861 which created emergency , He dismissed HABEAS CORPUS and jailed many disloyal people.The Theodore roosevelt and w.wilson both expanded the presient power by working closely with the congress , formulated bills and participation in worl war 1 provied him the poortunity to lead in international affairs .
