It can be mentioned that the four levels of product are

1) Core Product - which conveys the actual benefit to be consumed or used

2) Tangible Product which includes the core product and the other peripheral such as packaging etc

3) Augmented Product which includes the non tangible components as well such as delivery system and after Sales service etc

4) Promised Product- which includes all the above three and the other trust factors that adds on here such as the brand value and the status etc

it can be mentioned that peripheral services apart from the actual benefit or product you offer play a major role at it adds on value and benefits the customers in a way such as reducing the time or ease of delivery or is of reaching the outlet and the post service levels can build on the brand value so that you can always get much customer base then you would get for the core product so that it would benefit you ultimately competitive advantage and for instance considered there are two portals selling the same product but the first portal has a better delivery system and quick delivery which is the peripheral service near and that is the reason why the first portal can have a competitive advantage
